A woman riding a bicycle was hit and killed in Brevard County Sunday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.In a press release, FHP said the crash happened around 8:19 a.m. at the intersection of North Pinehurst Avenue and North Wickham Road in Brevard County near the Suntree Golf Course. A witness told FHP that a bicyclist traveling west in the crosswalk of N. Wickham Road was hit by an SUV taking a left from the southbound left-turn lane of N. Pinehurst Avenue. The SUV had been stopped at the red light before the light changed green and the driver began taking that left turn.The bicyclist struck the left side of the SUV. Troopers said she was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where she later died from her injuries. FHP said she was 60 years old, and she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.The woman driving the SUV was not injured and remained at the crash scene.Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.
