NEWS STARTS NOW. WE BEGIN TODAY AT NOON IN MARION COUNTY. FOUR PEOPLE FOUND DEAD IN JUST TWO DAYS. DEPUTIES BELIEVE THE MOST RECENT CASE WAS A MURDER SUICIDE IN OCALA. THIS HAPPENED LAST NIGHT ON SOUTHWEST 20TH LANE. IT’S ABOUT 40 MINUTES AWAY FROM WHERE INVESTIGATORS FOUND TWO OTHERS DEAD. IN WHISPERING SANDS AS WESH 2’S TONY ATKINS TELLS US, THESE TWO CRIME SCENES ARE NOT BELIEVED TO BE CONNECTED. IT’S BEEN A BUSY STRETCH FOR HOMICIDE INVESTIGATORS HERE IN MARION COUNTY. FIRST, A DOUBLE HOMICIDE SUNDAY MORNING AND THEN MONDAY NIGHT, A MURDER SUICIDE LAST NIGHT ON SOUTHWEST 20TH LANE IN OCALA. DEPUTIES SAY THEY WERE CALLED FOR A WELFARE CHECK WHEN THEY FOUND A MAN AND WOMAN DEAD INSIDE A HOME. DEPUTIES HAD AT LAST CHECK, HADN’T IDENTIFIED THE TWO BECAUSE THE NEXT OF KIN HADN’T YET BEEN NOTIFIED AT THE TIME. BUT JUST THE DAY BEFORE, IN A SEPARATE EVENT, A DOUBLE HOMICIDE AROUND 11 A.M. ON SUNDAY. DEPUTIES SAY IT HAPPENED IN THE WHISPERING SANDS AREA. BOTH THE MAN AND WOMAN WERE KILLED IN THAT CASE. DETECTIVES SAY THEY’RE LOOKING FOR ANY TIPS THAT CAN LEAD TO THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE. Marion County sheriff’s deputies have identified the people killed in a murder-suicide on Monday.The victim was identified as 57-year-old Kathleen Callahan, and the suspect is 26-year-old Birch Longfellow Crocker.The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said it got the call to a home on SW 20th Lane in Ocala.They were called for a welfare check. When they made it, they found a man and woman killed at the home. A gun was located beside Longfellow Crocker, detectives say.
