Officials looking for suspect in deadly hit-and-run, FHP says


On the morning of Oct. 30, Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal hit-and-run crash in Osceola County. Officials say they are still trying to locate the driver who fled the scene.According to FHP, the crash occurred around 5:20 a.m. on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and Westside Boulevard. A pedestrian, who was not walking in a marked crosswalk, entered the path of the first vehicle. The initial impact caused the pedestrian to be struck for a second time by another vehicle. Witnesses at the scene told officials the pedestrian may have been hit by more cars after the collision with the second vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the first vehicle immediately fled the scene, but officials say a witness observed the crash and took photos of the suspect’s vehicle. The make/model is unknown, but officials describe it as a white extended cab pick-up truck. Officials also say the witness advised that the suspect turned into a gas station after the crash. Investigators were able to obtain two videos that show the suspect at the gas station. The other vehicle involved remained on the scene. FHP is currently looking for the driver of the first vehicle, which is believed to have front-end damage. Anyone with information regarding the suspect or the crash is asked to call FHP at 407-737-2213 or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.This is an active criminal investigation.
